Book presentations
Contacted by parents of young patients, we have assisted them with the aid of all the experts and professionals we were able to involve; we have also dealt with some tragic cases of deaths and helped to detect medical malpractice in hospitals or otherwise clarify obscure points.
We have collected testimonies from parents of sick children who died or were harmed, filed reports, reviewed medical records. In so doing, confronting with specialists, we highlighted a number of shortcomings in the medical treatment of small and young patients and in the respect of their rights.
In particular, we noted the closure of the Pediatric Oncology Ward of the Policlinico Umberto I Hospital due to a case of Covid in the building, occurred in 2020 (!), and we took action, after the incisive initiative of the association La Fenice (Antonella Saliva, author of a legal injunction), for its rapid reopening, urging and following the procedures for the recruitment of a head physician and ward physicians, of which the competition notice was recently reissued.
We have activated contacts with regional administrators, urging them to take necessary administrative actions.
We have also contacted a well-known hospital and worked with a pediatrician on the project of a first ward for the care of young hemopathic patients. The road is arduous, but we insist.
In June, in collaboration with the Noi Calabresi Association, AGOP and the La Fenice Committee, we organized a conference on organ donation at Palazzo Valentini, which will be followed by a conference on bone marrow and blood components donation. The purpose of the conferences was not to carry out an in-depth scientific study by giving space to the voices of specialists (an activity that has other promoters and appropriate channels), but to help the potential donor citizen understand the meaning of his gesture, which is part of a chain of actions involving various players, medical and administrative, whose purpose must be that of a care path that involves both science and conscience in the possible healing of the sick.
We publicized the organization's goals and activities in the media through interviews for television, print and online media.
